Banksy – the voice of those who are not heard. School Happening.

On January 9, 2026, students from our school had an opportunity to take part in a special happening entitled Banksy – the voice of those who are not heard.

The event was organized by our school librarian and our English teachers in order to raise young people's awareness of important social issues. Its aim was also to encourage some reflection on the uncertain times we are living in today.

The man behind these powerful messages is the British street artist also known as Banksy. Through his awesome graffiti works he openly opposes war, racism, social injustice an consumerism. Banksy’s main goal is to provoke some thought about the problems of the modern world.
His works can be found all over the globe, especially in places affected by war conflicts, such as Israel or Ukraine.

During the event, our students symbolically travelled not only to the streets of London, where many of Banksy’s works can be seen, but also to the walls of buildings in Jerusalem and Ukraine. They learned about the artist’s life and discovered his most famous pieces, including Girl with a Balloon, Flower Bomber, Borodyanka, and Dove of Peace.

The happening also revealed that our school has its own young graffiti artist - Ms. Agnieszka Jung, our school counsellor. With some stencils and paints she  enriched the event with two fine artworks: a graffiti mural of a rapping rat created in the library, and an image of a girl holding a red balloon displayed in the common room.

The event was very well received by the students, who showed both good knowledge of English language and creativity while taking part in the activities.
